Accurascale has released a new OO scale model of the Class 55 'Deltic' diesel locomotive, number 55020 'Nimbus', in British Rail Blue livery. The model is DCC sound fitted and features a highly detailed die-cast alloy metal chassis.

The model is based on 55020's condition in 1976, with standard-sized domino headcodes, although alternative smaller dots are provided. The locomotive is one of only three Deltics that never received plated headcode boxes, and it retains the mountings for the cab roof horns from the early 1960s.

The model features a range of accurate details, including cast bogies, a revised exhaust style, and a late walkway style. It also includes a range of separately applied etched metal and high fidelity plastic parts, such as grab handles, steps, wipers, nameplates, and crests.

The locomotive has a five-pole motor with two flywheels and a helical gearbox, allowing it to achieve a scale top speed of 120 mph. It is DCC ready and features all wheel drive and all wheel pickup. The model also includes a fully detailed lighting pack, including directional lighting, marker lights, and a high intensity headlight function.

The model is fitted with RP25-110 OO wheels, which can be re-gauged to P4 and EM gauge. It also features two quality speakers with large sound capsules for best possible sound, and fully sprung metal buffers. The minimum radius for the model is 438mm, or a second radius set-track.
