Manufacturer description

Class 55 'Deltic' - BR Blue - 55004 - Queen's Own Highlander
DCC Sound Fitted

Much requested is our first Haymarket-allocated TOPS blue Deltic, represented here by 55004 in 1977 condition, just after having its headcode box plated over. Notably this was one of just four members of the fleet to feature unpainted front windscreen frames during the mid to late 1970s.

The Accurascale Class 55 Deltic 55004 'Queens Own Highlander' BR Blue Diesel Locomotive is a highly detailed OO scale model of a British Rail Class 55 locomotive. The model is based on the real-life locomotive 55004, which was a member of the Class 55 fleet operated by British Rail in the 1960s and 1970s.

The model features a die-cast alloy metal chassis and is DCC sound fitted, allowing for realistic sound effects and lighting. The locomotive has a highly detailed body with separately applied etched metal and high fidelity plastic detail parts, including grab handles, steps, wipers, nameplates, and crests. The model also features a correct height mini-tension-lock coupler with NEM socket and a full bufferbeam detail.

The locomotive has a five-pole motor with two flywheels and a helical gearbox, allowing it to achieve a scale top speed of 120 mph. The model is DCC ready with a PowerPack capacitor for uninterrupted power, and features all wheel drive and all wheel pickup. The lighting pack includes directional lighting, marker lights, high intensity headlight function, and separately switched cab lighting.

The model is built to a high standard, with RP25-110 wheels and provision for re-gauging to p4 and EM gauge. The locomotive has a minimum radius of 438mm, making it suitable for use on curved track. The model is a faithful representation of the real-life 55004, with accurate details such as a plated headcode box and revised exhaust style.

This model is a highly detailed and accurate representation of the British Rail Class 55 Deltic, and is a must-have for any model railway enthusiast.
