Accurascale 55003 Meld – DCC Ready is a highly detailed OO‑scale (1:76.2) model of the British Rail Class 55 Deltic locomotive, running number 55003, named Meld. The model reproduces the locomotive as it appeared in British Rail blue livery during the TOPS era and reflects its original construction period of 1961–1962 by English Electric at the Vulcan Foundry, of which 22 were built.

The chassis is die‑cast alloy with a five‑pole motor and twin flywheels driving all wheels via a metal helical gearbox, allowing a scale top speed of 120 mph (193 km/h). The locomotive is supplied DCC ready with a 21‑pin MTX socket and a PowerPack capacitor for uninterrupted power, or with factory‑fitted DCC sound on versions that include two large speakers. It features correct mini‑tension‑lock couplers with NEM sockets, a fully detailed buffer beam, cast bogies and a full suite of etched metal and plastic detail parts such as grab handles, steps, wipers, nameplates and crests.

Lighting is comprehensive, offering directional, interior and engine‑bay illumination, with separate switches for cab lighting and marker lights that automatically switch off when coupled. All wheels are powered and provide pickup. The model runs on RP25‑110 wheels, which can be regauged to P4 or EM gauge, and requires a minimum 2nd‑radius curve of 438 mm. The product is identified by manufacturer part number ACC2153D9003.
