Accurascale 55017 “The Durham Light Infantry” is a 1:76.2 (OO gauge) die‑cast model of a British Rail Class 55 (Deltic) locomotive, finished in pristine blue livery. The model represents a unit built by English Electric at the Vulcan Foundry between 1961 and 1962, one of the 22 produced for British Rail, and is marked with the TOPS period “British Rail Blue”. It carries a 5‑pole motor with twin flywheels, a metal helical gearbox and all‑wheel drive, enabling a scale top speed of 120 mph (193 km/h). The chassis features cast bogies, NEM plus tension‑lock couplers, and RP25‑110 wheels that can be re‑gauged to P4 or EM gauge.

The locomotive is supplied DCC ready with a 21‑pin MTX socket and includes a PowerPack capacitor for uninterrupted power. Lighting is fully detailed with directional, interior and cab lighting, marker lights, and a high‑intensity headlight where applicable; all can be switched off when the unit is coupled to a locomotive. Optional sound fitting adds two high‑capacity speakers and a sound capsule. Additional realistic fittings include etched metal and plastic detail parts such as grab handles, steps, wipers, nameplates, crests, sandbox hatches, louvres, horn position and headcode panels.

Key specifications: Co‑Co wheel arrangement, diesel motive power, maximum speed 100 mph, minimum curve radius 438 mm (second radius set‑track), ETH train heating, two windscreen wipers per pane, and a fully sprung metal bufferbeam. The model bears the manufacturer part number ACC2167D9017 and is classified as DCC Ready.
