Accurascale has released a new model of the Class 55 Deltic locomotive, D9018 'Ballymoss', in BR green livery with a late crest. This OO scale model features a die-cast alloy metal chassis and is DCC sound fitted with a 21-pin MTX socket. The model is highly detailed and includes timeframe-specific features such as bogies, horn positions, exhaust ports, and train heating equipment.

The locomotive has a five-pole motor with two flywheels and a helical gearbox, allowing it to achieve a scale top speed of 120 mph. It also features all-wheel drive and all-wheel pickup, as well as a fully detailed lighting pack with directional lighting and separately switched cab lighting.

The model includes separately applied etched metal and high-fidelity plastic detail parts, including grab handles, steps, wipers, and nameplates. It also features correct height mini-tension-lock couplers with an NEM socket and a full bufferbeam detail.

The Class 55 Deltic locomotive was built by English Electric and Vulcan Foundry between 1961 and 1962, and was operated by British Rail. The model represents the locomotive in its early days, during the British Railways era.

Key features of the model include a minimum radius curve of 438mm (2nd Radius Set-track), OO scale wheels with provision for re-gauging to P4 and EM gauge, and two quality speakers with large sound capsules for the sound fitted model. The locomotive has a wheel arrangement of Co-Co and was built with a vacuum braking system.
