Accurascale 55017 is a 1:76.2 (OO gauge) die‑cast model of the British Rail Class 55 “Deltic” locomotive, numbered 55017 and named The Durham Light Infantry. The locomotive is presented in a pristine blue livery with the appropriate British Rail TOPS markings and carries a DCC sound‑fitted package, including a 21‑pin MTX socket and factory‑installed speakers with large sound capsules.

The model features a five‑pole motor with twin flywheels, a metal helical gearbox and all‑wheel drive, allowing a scale top speed of 120 mph (193 km/h). It is equipped with correctly proportioned NEM couplers with tension‑lock, fully detailed bufferbeams, cast bogies, RP25‑110 wheels (re‑gaugeable to P4 and EM), directional and interior lighting, and a comprehensive set of etched metal and high‑fidelity plastic accessories such as grab handles, steps, wipers, nameplates and crests.

Technical data includes a minimum radius of 438 mm (second radius set‑track), ETH train heating, two windscreen wipers per pane, full cab side windows, sandbox hatches, battery compartment louvres and an upper central lamp iron. The locomotive was built between 1961 and 1962, one of 22 produced for British Rail, and is capable of DCC operation with a PowerPack capacitor for uninterrupted power.
