Manufacturer description
Class 55 'Deltic' - BR Blue - 55004 - Queen's Own Highlander

Much requested is our first Haymarket-allocated TOPS blue Deltic, represented here by 55004 in 1977 condition, just after having its headcode box plated over. Notably this was one of just four members of the fleet to feature unpainted front windscreen frames during the mid to late 1970s.

Accurascale has released a new OO scale model of the Class 55 Deltic diesel locomotive in BR Blue livery, specifically representing 55004 'Queen's Own Highlander'. This locomotive was one of only four in the fleet to feature an unpainted front windscreen frame in the mid-to-late 1970s.

The model features a highly detailed and accurate representation of the locomotive, with numerous fine details including etched metal and high-fidelity plastic parts. It has a die-cast alloy metal chassis and is DCC ready, with a 21-pin MTX socket for easy installation of an decoder.

The model features a five-pole motor with two flywheels and a helical gearbox, allowing for high-performance running and a top speed of 120 mph. It also has all-wheel drive and all-wheel pickup, ensuring smooth and efficient operation. The lighting pack includes directional lighting, marker lights, and a high-intensity headlight function, as well as separately switched cab lighting and illuminated details.

The model is available with a range of features specific to the Class 55 Deltic, including cast bogies, revised exhaust style, and plated headcode. The locomotive is also equipped with a range of other details, including a revised fan, late walkway style, and a top lamp iron.

The model has a minimum radius curve of 438mm, making it suitable for use on most modern layouts. It is also compatible with standard OO gauge track and can be easily re-gauged to P4 or EM gauge using the provision for OO wheels. The model is expected to be popular among modellers of British Rail-era locomotives and layouts.
