Accurascaleâs âAlycidonâ (ClassâŻ55 D9009) is an OOâscale model of the Deltic locomotive painted in British Rail blue with a preâTOPS number, representing its appearance during the initial privatisation era. The model is part of a limitedâedition collaboration between Rails of Sheffield, Locomotion Models and the Deltic Preservation Society, and is DCCâready with a 21âpin interface.
The locomotive is supplied with highâintensity headlamps, GPS pods and functional wipac lighting as seen on current mainâline Deltics. It includes a range of selectable details such as different headcode panels, windscreen wiper arrangements, steamâheat boiler ports, cabâside windows, sandbox hatches, air vents and horn positions. Cast and fabricated bogies, metal grab handles, steps and wipers are applied separately for realism.
Technical features include a fiveâpole motor with two flywheels, a metal helical gearbox and gearing set to allow a scale top speed of 100âŻmph. The model uses RP25â110 OO wheels with the option to reâgauge to P4 or EM, and is fitted with fully sprung metal buffers, fineâdetail pipework and correctâheight miniâtensionâlock couplers with NEM sockets. Lighting is fully detailed with directional, DC and DCCâcontrolled lamps, separately switched cab lighting and an illuminated driverâs console that switches off on movement.
The models are scheduled for release in Q1âŻ2022 and are marketed as exclusive items for collectors and railway enthusiasts.
