SIX DELTIC MODELS TO BE PRODUCED FOR RAILS, LOCOMOTION MODELS, AND DELTIC PRESERVATION SOCIETY

The announcement by Accurascale that they are to produce a OO Scale Class 55 ‘Deltic’ locomotive has enabled Rails, Locomotion Models and the Deltic Preservation Society to work together to announce a range of exclusive models that will be jointly marketed by all three) organisations.

These models are expected to be released in Q1 2022.

Features include (subject to variation):

• Differing headcode panel arrangements
• Windscreen wiper arrangements
• Multiple steam heat boiler port modifications
• Introduction of ETS with correct placing of connections
• Filling in of cabside windows
• Sandbox Hatches variations
• Cab air vents
• Different placing of horns
• Cast and fabricated bogies
• Fully functional high intensity and wipac lights as seen in mainline runs in the privatisation era

The technical specification of the locomotive will be industry leading, with:

• Separately applied metal detail parts, including grab handles, steps, wipers and more
• Correct height mini-tension-lock couplers with correct height NEM socket as well as a fully detailed buffer beam
• High Performance traction, to include;
• Five-Pole motor with two flywheels
• Metal Helical Gear box for maximum performance and slow speed running
• Gearing arranged so locomotive can achieve a scale top speed of 100 mph
• DCC ready with 21pin interface
• Fully detailed Lighting Pack, including:
• Directional lighting, DC and DCC
• Marker lights can be turned off when train is coupled to loco
• Separately switched cab lighting and illuminated, detailed driver’s console, auto off on movement
• RP25-110 wheels OO wheels with provision for re-gauging to p4 and EM gauge
• Fully sprung metal buffers
• Extra fine factory-fitted pipework
• Minimum Radius 438mm (2nd Radius Set-track)

Accurascale Royal Highland Fusilier Class 55 D9019 Deltic is a limited‑edition OO scale model of a British Railways Class 55 locomotive, reproduced in the post‑1965 two‑tone green livery. The model is part of a joint range produced for Rails of Sheffield, Locomotion Models and the Deltic Preservation Society, with an expected release in the first quarter of 2022.

The locomotive is factory fitted with ESU Loksound 5 DCC sound equipment, featuring two high‑quality speakers and large sound capsules. It includes a full lighting pack with directional, DC and DCC lights, cab illumination that switches off on movement, and high‑intensity mainline lights. Various detailing options are offered, such as different headcode panels, windscreen wiper arrangements, sandbox hatches, cab air vents and horn placements, as well as cast and fabricated bogies.

Technical specifications comprise a five‑pole motor with two flywheels, a metal helical gearbox, and gearing calibrated for a scale top speed of 100 mph. The model uses RP25‑110 OO wheels with the ability to be re‑gauged to P4 or EM gauge, metal buffers with fine factory‑fitted pipework, and a minimum radius of 438 mm (second radius set‑track).
