Accurascale 55018 “Ballymoss” is a 1:76.2 (OO gauge) model of the British Rail Class 55 Deltic locomotive, finished in the British Rail blue livery with white trim. The locomotive is represented in the TOPS era, having been built by English Electric at the Vulcan Foundry between 1961‑1962, of which 22 were produced for British Rail.

The model features a die‑cast alloy chassis and is DCC ready with a 21‑pin MTX socket; a factory‑fitted sound version is also available. It is powered by a five‑pole motor with twin flywheels and a metal helical gear box, delivering all‑wheel drive and a scale top speed of 120 mph (193 km/h). The gearbox includes a PowerPack capacitor for uninterrupted operation.

Lighting is fully detailed, offering directional and interior illumination, separate cab lighting with auto‑off on movement, and optional high‑intensity headlights where applicable. The model is fitted with correct‑height mini‑tension‑lock couplers with an NEM socket, a fully detailed buffer beam, and RP25‑110 OO wheels that can be re‑gauged to P4 or EM gauge.

Additional details include cast bogies, etched metal and high‑fidelity plastic parts such as grab handles, nameplates and crests, two quality speakers on sound‑fitted units, and a minimum curve radius of 438 mm (2nd radius set‑track). The locomotive is ready for operation on 2nd‑radius track with all wheels picking up power.
