Manufacturer description
Never before produced in ready-to-run form in any scale, accurascale is excited to reveal the latest addition to its eagerly-anticipated range of 4mm/OO gauge Mk.2 coaching stock, the late-style Mk.2c variant with their characteristic small 'air con'-style toilet windows. Famously designed to be retrofitted with air-conditioning equipment, a modification that never took place, 150 vehicles were built at Litchurch Lane, Derby, in 1969-70 to five designs (out of 250 Mk.2c in total), primarily for the London Midland Region: Tourist Second Open (TSO), Corridor First (FK), Open First (FO), Brake Corridor First (BFK) and Brake Open Second (BSO). In the 1980s four further types were introduced, SK and SO (declassified from first class), Corridor Composite (converted from FK for Scottish Region services) and a mini buffet with trolley space, known as TSO(T). All nine of these versions will feature in our production.

Accurascale has produced a model of the Mark 2C BSO coach in OO gauge. This coach is based on a British Rail Mark 2A coach and features West Coast Railways' maroon livery. The model is suitable for use on layouts with a minimum radius of 438mm.

The model features highly-detailed exterior rivet work on the roof and coach ends, as well as separately-applied etched metal and plastic parts. These include handrails, brake and steam heat pipes, ETH cabling and sockets, footsteps, and roof vents. The coach also features prism-free glazing.

The underframe is fully detailed with numerous separate parts, pipe runs, and accurate differences between versions. The bogies are accurate and can be re-gauged to EM or P4 gauges. The wheels are blackened RP25.110 profile with 14.4mm back-to-back measurements and 26mm over pinpoints. The buffers are designed to be used in both retracted and non-retracted positions.

The interior of the coach is accurately detailed, with characteristic 'winged' headrests, separate metal handrails on the brake and corridor vehicles, and a fully-detailed guard's compartment. The model features correct height NEM standard coupling sockets and mini tension lock couplers, which can be easily converted to Kadee-compatible knuckle couplers.

The model includes a full lighting package, featuring magnet-controlled interior lighting and a 'stay-alive' capacitor in all coaches. The driving trailer also features directional lighting that can be controlled using DC or DCC. The coach is designed for use on 16.5mm track and has a length of 269mm.
