Manufacturer description
Never before produced in ready-to-run form in any scale, accurascale is excited to reveal the latest addition to its eagerly-anticipated range of 4mm/OO gauge Mk.2 coaching stock, the late-style Mk.2c variant with their characteristic small 'air con'-style toilet windows. Famously designed to be retrofitted with air-conditioning equipment, a modification that never took place, 150 vehicles were built at Litchurch Lane, Derby, in 1969-70 to five designs (out of 250 Mk.2c in total), primarily for the London Midland Region: Tourist Second Open (TSO), Corridor First (FK), Open First (FO), Brake Corridor First (BFK) and Brake Open Second (BSO). In the 1980s four further types were introduced, SK and SO (declassified from first class), Corridor Composite (converted from FK for Scottish Region services) and a mini buffet with trolley space, known as TSO(T). All nine of these versions will feature in our production.

Accurascale has released a new range of OO gauge models based on the BR Mark 2C coach, featuring the iconic BR blue and grey livery. The models are designed to be highly detailed and accurate, with separate parts and etched metal details including handrails, brake and steam heat pipes, and ETH cabling. The coaches are available in 10 different versions, including Tourist Second Open, Corridor First, Open First, Brake Corridor First, and Brake Open Second.

The Mark 2C coach range is a continuation of Accurascale's previous Mark 2B range, with the new models benefiting from extensive research and surveys of surviving vehicles. The company has also used works drawings and 3D scans to ensure the accuracy of the coaches' characteristic shape and tumblehome. The interiors have been carefully modelled, with attention paid to differences in layout, seating styles, and areas such as the Tourist Second Open section.

The coaches are built using a wide-reaching and flexible tooling suite, allowing for easy conversion to different versions and gauges. The models feature blackened wheel-sets with 14.4mm back-to-back measurements, and 26mm over pinpoints. The B4 bogies are designed to be accurate, with provision for re-gauging to EM or P4 gauges.

Other features of the models include prism-free glazing, pre-painted etched metal water filler covers, and fully-detailed underframes with separate parts and pipe runs. The coaches are designed to operate on minimum radius curves of 438mm, and have a length of 269mm. The models are available with working interior lighting and a stay-alive capacitor.
