Accurascale has released a new OO gauge model of a British Railways Mark 2B Tourist Second Open coach, numbered 5488, in blue and grey livery. The model is part of the company's range of rolling stock and is one of the 'missing link' subclasses that have not been produced in high quality form in 4mm scale.

The model features highly detailed exterior rivet detail on the roof and coach ends, with separately applied etched metal and plastic parts including handrails, brake pipes, and roof vents. The coach has a pristine finish and comes with pre-painted destination boards and water filler covers for customers to install.

The model is built to a scale of 1:76.2 and is designed to run on 16.5mm track. It has a length of 269mm and a minimum radius curve of 438mm. The model features a fully-detailed underframe with numerous separate parts and accurate differences between versions.

The coach has a B4 or B5 bogie arrangement and comes with blackened RP25.110 profile wheel-sets. The model also features accurate interiors with characteristic 'winged' headrests and separate metal interior handrails. The coach has a correct height NEM standard coupling socket and comes with a mini tension lock coupler and kinematic close-coupling.

The model is DCC compatible and features a full lighting package, including magnet 'wand' controlled interior lighting and directional lighting with DC or DCC control. The model is suitable for use on a wide range of model railway layouts and is a welcome addition to Accurascale's range of rolling stock.

The British Railways Mark 2B coach was built at Litchurch Lane, Derby, between 1963 and 1975, with 111 vehicles built for British Rail. The model is a representation of this period, which is known as the British Rail Blue era.
