Manufacturer description
Never before produced in ready-to-run form in any scale, accurascale is excited to reveal the latest addition to its eagerly-anticipated range of 4mm/OO gauge Mk.2 coaching stock, the late-style Mk.2c variant with their characteristic small 'air con'-style toilet windows. Famously designed to be retrofitted with air-conditioning equipment, a modification that never took place, 150 vehicles were built at Litchurch Lane, Derby, in 1969-70 to five designs (out of 250 Mk.2c in total), primarily for the London Midland Region: Tourist Second Open (TSO), Corridor First (FK), Open First (FO), Brake Corridor First (BFK) and Brake Open Second (BSO). In the 1980s four further types were introduced, SK and SO (declassified from first class), Corridor Composite (converted from FK for Scottish Region services) and a mini buffet with trolley space, known as TSO(T). All nine of these versions will feature in our production.

Accurascale has released a new model of a Mark 2C MK2C SK coach in the iconic BR blue and grey livery, numbered M19536. This model is part of a range of Mark 2A-C coaches, designed to represent the period of British Rail's Blue era.

The Accurascale Mark 2c range has been developed using research from their Mark 2b coaches, with surveys of numerous surviving vehicles and works drawings used to ensure accuracy. The model features a tumblehome and shape of the ends that is as accurate as possible, as well as detailed interiors with different layouts, seating styles and areas.

The Mark 2c coach was a varied type, with different formats including Tourist Second Open, Corridor First, Open First, Brake Corridor First and Brake Open Second. Accurascale's tooling suite includes all nine of these versions, including SK and SO, Corridor Composite and a mini buffet with trolley space.

The model is a highly-detailed OO gauge representation, with features including fine exterior rivet detail, separately-applied etched metal and plastic parts, and a fully-detailed underframe. The bogies are accurate B4 type, with provision for re-gauging to EM or P4 gauges. The model also features accurate interiors, including 'winged' headrests and separate metal interior handrails. The lighting package includes magnet 'wand' controlled interior lighting and a 'Stay-Alive' capacitor in all coaches.

The model is designed to run on a minimum radius of 438mm (2nd radius set-track), and measures 269mm in length. It is compatible with NEM standard coupling sockets and features a mini tension lock coupler.
