Manufacturer description
Never before produced in ready-to-run form in any scale, accurascale is excited to reveal the latest addition to its eagerly-anticipated range of 4mm/OO gauge Mk.2 coaching stock, the late-style Mk.2c variant with their characteristic small 'air con'-style toilet windows. Famously designed to be retrofitted with air-conditioning equipment, a modification that never took place, 150 vehicles were built at Litchurch Lane, Derby, in 1969-70 to five designs (out of 250 Mk.2c in total), primarily for the London Midland Region: Tourist Second Open (TSO), Corridor First (FK), Open First (FO), Brake Corridor First (BFK) and Brake Open Second (BSO). In the 1980s four further types were introduced, SK and SO (declassified from first class), Corridor Composite (converted from FK for Scottish Region services) and a mini buffet with trolley space, known as TSO(T). All nine of these versions will feature in our production.

Accurascale has released a new model of a Mark 2C TSO (Tourist Second Open) coach in Regional Railways livery, numbered 5554. This model is part of the company's range of OO gauge Mark 2 coaching stock.

The model is designed to replicate a coach built by British Rail Engineering Limited (BREL) at the Litchurch Lane Works in Derby between 1969 and 1970. It features a highly detailed exterior with fine rivet detail on the roof and coach ends, as well as separately applied etched metal and plastic parts.

The coach has a minimum radius curve requirement of 438mm (2nd Radius Set-track) and a length of 269mm. It features a fully detailed underframe, accurate B4 bogies, and blackened RP25.110 profile wheel-sets. The model also includes a range of interior features, including 'winged' headrests, metal interior handrails, and a detailed guard's compartment.

The model is designed to be compatible with DCC control and features a 'stay-alive' capacitor to prevent the loss of power when the train is stopped. It also includes a full lighting package, including magnet 'wand' controlled interior lighting and directional lighting. The model comes with a NEM standard coupling socket and a mini tension lock coupler, and can be easily converted to use Kadee-compatible knuckle couplers.
