Manufacturer description
Never before produced in ready-to-run form in any scale, accurascale is excited to reveal the latest addition to its eagerly-anticipated range of 4mm/OO gauge Mk.2 coaching stock, the late-style Mk.2c variant with their characteristic small 'air con'-style toilet windows. Famously designed to be retrofitted with air-conditioning equipment, a modification that never took place, 150 vehicles were built at Litchurch Lane, Derby, in 1969-70 to five designs (out of 250 Mk.2c in total), primarily for the London Midland Region: Tourist Second Open (TSO), Corridor First (FK), Open First (FO), Brake Corridor First (BFK) and Brake Open Second (BSO). In the 1980s four further types were introduced, SK and SO (declassified from first class), Corridor Composite (converted from FK for Scottish Region services) and a mini buffet with trolley space, known as TSO(T). All nine of these versions will feature in our production.

Accurascale has released a new OO gauge model of a Mark 2C TSO coach in BR blue and grey livery, numbered M5565. This model features a minimum radius curve requirement of 2nd radius (438mm) and includes a working interior lighting system.

The Mark 2C coach was a variant of the Mark 2 family, which was built between 1963 and 1975 at BREL's Derby Litchurch Lane Works. The Accurascale model is part of a wider range of Mark 2 coaches, which were designed to be highly detailed and accurate representations of the real thing.

The model features a number of accurate details, including exterior rivet detail, separately-applied etched metal and plastic parts, and a fully-detailed underframe. The bogies are designed to be highly accurate, with a provision for re-gauging to EM or P4 gauges. The wheel-sets are blackened RP25.110 profile with 14.4mm back-to-back measurements and 26mm over pinpoints.

The interior of the model features accurate details, including characteristic 'winged' headrests, separate metal interior handrails, and a fully-detailed guard's compartment. The model also includes a full lighting package, including a magnet 'wand' controlled interior lighting system and a 'Stay-Alive' capacitor in all coaches.

The Accurascale Mark 2C TSO coach is a highly detailed and accurate model of a classic British Rail coach, and is sure to be a popular addition to any OO gauge collection.
