Prototype Eras
Era 9 (1995 to 2004) Initial Privatisation
Era 10 (2005 to 2015) Rebuilding of the Railways
Built by Powell and Duffryn these high capacity wagons were originally bought by ARC and wore the distinctive ARC livery but have since changed to wearing Hanson’s livery. They have on occasion also been seen sporting plain grey to hide graffiti
The fleet is noticeable for its use of distinctive inside bearing TF1 low track force bogies. There are a few variants of the hopper. The outer hoppers are numbered 17xxx and the inner hoppers are numbered 19xxx. Only the most distal end of the outer hoppers are fitted with buffers, all wagons are fitted with buckeye couplings.

The Dapol model of the P & D JHA (End Hopper) wagon in Hanson Blue & Grey livery is a detailed representation of a real-life wagon type. The model features a diecast chassis and profiled wheels, with sprung buffers on the outermost wagon end.
The model will be available in two versions, with inner wagons featuring buckeye couplings and no buffers, and outer wagons featuring buffers, a lamp, and a standard OO model coupling with an NEM pocket at one end. Both types will have a close coupling mechanism, allowing operation on a minimum radius of 438mm.
The model is designed from works drawings and features a high level of detail, with separately added parts. A working rear lamp is included on the outermost end of the train, with a DC directional function and a 6-pin DCC socket for control of the flashing lamp.
The real-life P & D JHA wagons were built by Powell Duffryn between 1990 and 1991, and were originally operated by ARC before being rebranded with Hanson livery. They feature distinctive inside bearing TF1 low track force bogies and are notable for their use of buckeye couplings.
