The O&K JHA hoppers were built by Orenstein & Koppel to coincide with the introduction of the Class 59’s in the UK for aggregate haulage by Foster Yeoman. They remain in service to date with Mendip Rail Ltd. A rake of these wagons consist of two outer wagons and a number of inner wagons.

The notable feature is that the two outer wagons have screw link couplings and buffers on the outer most edge of the train, whilst the connection between inner wagons is a buckeye style coupling allowing closer coupling and hence an overall reduction in length of the train which was considered an important design aim.

The Dapol O & K JHA (middle hopper) Foster Yeoman 19391 Late model represents a type of hopper wagon designed by Orenstein & Koppel (O&K) for use by Foster Yeoman in the United Kingdom. The O&K JHA hoppers were built between 1988 and 1989 to coincide with the introduction of the Class 59 locomotives, which were used for aggregate haulage.

The real-life wagons are still in service with Mendip Rail Ltd, and the model features a unique design where the outer wagons have screw link couplings and buffers on the outer edge of the train, while the inner wagons are connected using buckeye style couplings, allowing for closer coupling and a shorter overall length.

The model O&K JHA Hoppers are highly detailed and feature a number of authentic details, including a diecast chassis, profiled wheels, and sprung buffers. The model comes in two versions: inner wagons without buffers and buckeye couplings, and outer wagons with lamps, sprung buffers, and standard OO model couplings. The close coupling mechanism allows for operation on a minimum radius of 438mm.

The model measures 182mm in length, 33mm in width, and 48mm in height. An accessory pack is included, which contains two versions of interconnecting pipes and a working rear lamp. The model is finished with a high level of detail, including separately added details.
