The O&K JHA hoppers were built by Orenstein & Koppel to coincide with the introduction of the Class 59’s in the UK for aggregate haulage by Foster Yeoman. They remain in service to date with Mendip Rail Ltd. A rake of these wagons consist of two outer wagons and a number of inner wagons.
The notable feature is that the two outer wagons have screw link couplings and buffers on the outer most edge of the train, whilst the connection between inner wagons is a buckeye style coupling allowing closer coupling and hence an overall reduction in length of the train which was considered an important design aim.

The Dapol O & K JHA (end hopper) Foster Yeoman 19307 Early model is a highly detailed OO gauge model of a specific type of hopper wagon used by Foster Yeoman in the UK. The model is designed to represent the initial period of privatisation, built by Orenstein & Koppel in 1988 to 1989.
The real-life O&K JHA hoppers were built to work with the Class 59 locomotives, used for aggregate haulage by Foster Yeoman. They remain in service with Mendip Rail Ltd to this day. The model accurately depicts the unique features of these wagons, including the screw link couplings and buffers on the outermost edges of the train, and the closer coupling between inner wagons achieved by using buckeye style couplings.
The model itself is DCC Ready, with a 6-pin socket, and features a diecast chassis, profiled wheels, and sprung buffers on the outermost wagons. It includes two types of inner and outer wagons, with the outer wagons featuring lamps, while the inner wagons have buckeye couplings. The model also includes a close coupling mechanism, allowing it to operate on a minimum radius of 438mm. Additionally, an accessory pack is included, featuring interconnecting pipes in two versions: loose and flexible. The model is finished with a high level of detail, including separately added details.
