Prototype Era
Era 4 (1948 to 1956) British Railways Early Crest
Built GWR at Swindon during April 1929. This 5700 was one of 30 locomotives built as part of Lot 238. As with all GWR built 5700s it was fitted with cast iron numberplates that were painted “off yellow” to represent brass. New to Old Oak Common it would soon transfer to Southall where it would spend the rest of its working life until withdrawal on the 14th of September 1959. Some say that after withdrawal, 5753 went on to work on an Island just off the coast of Cumbria, but that is another story…
* Class names often change over the lifespan of a locomotive, so this is not necessarily the class name used by the operator in the period modelled.

Accurascale 5700 Class – 5753 – BR Black Early Emblem is a model locomotive that is DCC ready. It is supplied in the British Railways Early black livery and represents the GWR 57xx/67xx/8750 class. The manufacturer part number is ACC3545 and the model depicts the period of the British Railways Early Crest.
The prototype locomotive was built by the Great Western Railway at Swindon in April 1929, as part of Lot 238 which comprised 30 locomotives. Like all GWR built 5700s, it was fitted with cast‑iron numberplates that were painted “off yellow” to simulate brass. Initially allocated to Old Oak Common, the engine was later transferred to Southall where it remained in service until its withdrawal on 14 September 1959. Some accounts suggest that after withdrawal the locomotive may have worked on an island off the coast of Cumbria.
