Manufacturer description

Built at Swindon by the GWR on the 10th of October 1933. Built as part of Lot 282, it was built with the new, larger deign of cab (8750 class) whist still retaining some of the earlier features like the early water filler caps and lack of steps up the bunker side. Whilst the steps would get added later along with a tope feed, the fillers would stay the same until withdrawal. New to Old Oak Common, and remaining a London area engine for most of its life, it would later receive the lined black livery of the Paddington pilots. It would be reallocated to Barry (88C) shed in 1960 which would be its last shed before withdrawal on the 21st of May 1962 having worked for just over 28 years and 6 months.

Accurascale 8754 is a DCC‑ready model of Great Western Railway locomotive 8764, painted in the GWR green livery. It represents a member of the GWR 57xx/67xx/8750 class and carries the manufacturer part number ACC3542. The model is intended to depict the period of the British railway “Big Four” – LNER, LMS, GWR and SR.

The prototype was built at Swindon by the GWR on 10 October 1933 as part of Lot 282. It featured the newer, larger cab design of the 8750 class while retaining early water filler caps and the original bunker side without steps. Steps and a top feed were added later, but the filler caps remained unchanged until withdrawal.

The engine operated mainly in the London area, later receiving the lined black livery of the Paddington pilots. In 1960 it was transferred to Barry (88C) shed, its final allocation, and was withdrawn on 21 May 1962 after a service life of just over 28 years and six months.
