Manufacturer description

8763. British Railways Lined black livery, with Early Emblem

This locomotive was built at Swindon in 1933 and allocated to Old Oak Common where it spent its entire working life. By the early 1950s many panniers were fitted with top feed boilers. In contrast to the more common plain black livery, 8763 was treated to full mixed traffic lining as its duties included working empty coaching stock in and out of London Paddington. It was withdrawn in 1962.

Features: Top feed boiler, 8750 style cab, Bunker steps fitted, Injector overflow routed outside running plate.

Accurascale has released a new 0-6-0PT tank locomotive model, the 8750 Class Pannier Tank, in British Railways Early Emblem Lined Black livery.

The model is a highly detailed representation of the GWR 57xx/67xx/8750 class locomotive, built to 1:76.2 scale on 16.5mm track. The locomotive features a die-cast metal chassis and pickups to all wheels, a coreless motor with flywheel geared for maximum performance and slow speed running, and a Next18 DCC ready or ESU LokSound V5 sound system.

The model includes a range of features such as scale width wire handrails and sand pipes, a fully detailed cab interior with twin LED pulsing/steady Firebox glow, and etched metal/plastic detail parts, including grab handles, steps, buffer pipework, lamp irons, and whistle shields.

The 8750 Class Pannier Tank was a standard locomotive designed by Charles B Collett, built from 1929 to 1950, and was used for shunting and freight work. The class was later modified to include a larger and more comfortable cab, resulting in the 9700 class, and a further 500 locomotives were built to this design. The 8750 class was used extensively on the Great Western and later British Railways networks, and many locomotives were preserved and continue to operate on preserved branch lines.

The model is available with a range of specifications, including DCC and sound, and is suitable for use on 00 gauge track with a minimum radius of 438mm.
