9741. British Railways Green Livery
With the introduction of what became the “8750” variations, this 1935 built locomotive emerged from Swindon works carrying a new enlarged cab but still retained some of the earlier style parts such as water fillers and backplate feed. Its initial allocation was Stafford Road shed (Wolverhampton) and can be seen here as it was outshopped in the early British Railways livery lettered livery with GWR "Egyptian" typeface. It was withdrawn from Wellington shed in 1962 before being scrapped
Features: No top feed, 8750 style cab, Bunker steps fitted, Injector overflow routed through running plate.
* Class names often change over the lifespan of a locomotive, so this is not necessarily the class name used by the operator in the period modelled.

Accurascale has announced a new 00 gauge model of the 8750 Class Pannier Tank locomotive, a British Railways green 0-6-0 tank locomotive. The model is based on the GWR 57xx/67xx/8750 class locomotives built between 1929 and 1950. The model features a highly detailed 0-6-0PT design with a coreless motor and flywheel, making it suitable for both high-speed and slow-speed running.
The model is DCC ready, with Next18 DCC capability or an ESU LokSound V5 sound system available as an option. The sound system features two quality sugar cube speakers and a powerPack capacitor for uninterrupted power. The model also features a detailed cab interior, etched metal and plastic detail parts, and a sliding roof ventilator.
The 8750 Class Pannier Tank was a standard locomotive design for the Great Western Railway, with over 800 members of the class built between 1929 and 1950. The design was a result of a need for a lightweight yet powerful tank locomotive that could be easily maintained and handled. The class was used for a variety of tasks, including local pick-up freight trains, shunting yards, branch line passenger services, and ECS and pilot duties.
The first withdrawals of the class began in 1956, and by 1966, the class had been removed from squadron service. However, some locomotives were purchased by London Transport and the National Coal Board, where they continued to work until the 1970s. Today, 16 members of the class have been preserved, with four re-certified for mainline use and seen running at speeds of up to 45mph on excursion trains.
