Manufacturer description

On nationalisation, the newly formed BR inherited a vast collection of rolling stock including wagons and hoppers designed to carry coal. As the national rebuild gained full force after the devastation of World War II, the demand for coal soared and BR decided to produce a standard coal hopper to help improve efficiency.

The variant finally chosen was based on a 1930s LNER design and was of an all steel construction. Over 23,000 of these were built between 1949 and 1958 and continued in service until the early 1980s. Due to the heavy wear and tear these hoppers endured, many were modified and rebuilt.

The Dapol 21T Hopper G Weaver model is a representation of a British Railways coal hopper wagon from the late 1940s to early 1950s period. The model is based on a standard design that was produced in large numbers by British Railways following nationalisation in 1948.

The real-life wagons were built in the late 1940s and early 1950s and featured an all-steel construction, with over 23,000 being produced between 1949 and 1958. Many of these wagons were later modified and rebuilt due to the heavy wear and tear they endured.

The model features a highly detailed body, profiled wheels, and a realistic load. It also includes NEM pockets with self-centring couplings for easy connection to other model railway wagons. The model measures 82mm in length, 33mm in width, and 40mm in height, making it suitable for use on model railways with a minimum radius of 1:32 scale curve.
