Rapido SER/SECR 5‑Plank 10 ton open wagon – SR Post‑’36 Brown No 12109 is a model of a late‑19th‑century British railway freight wagon. It carries the manufacturer part number 824024 and represents rolling stock from the era of the “Big Four” railways – the London and North Eastern Railway, London, Midland and Scottish Railway, Great Western Railway and Southern Railway.

The prototype wagons were introduced between 1897 and 1901 to meet the increase in freight traffic on the South Eastern Railway, which had merged with the London, Chatham and Dover Railway to form the South Eastern and Chatham Railway (SECR) in 1899. About 1 250 open wagons were built to two very similar diagrams, D1340 (Open Goods) and D1341 (Open Coal). Builders included Ashbury Railway Carriage and Iron Co, Birmingham Railway Carriage and Wagon Co, Oldbury Railway Carriage and Wagon Co and the railway’s own Ashford Works, with some subcontracting making exact builder numbers uncertain.

Both diagrams measure 15 ft 5 in in length with a 9 ft 4 in wheelbase. The primary visual difference is the end shape: D1340 has rounded ends, while D1341 features low‑D shaped ends with a Williams pattern sheet rail. Many wagons were later modified to square ends in 1912. The Southern Railway inherited most of the fleet after the 1923 grouping; the last D1340 was withdrawn in 1942 and the final D1341 in 1948, their numbers having been transferred to departmental stock.

The model is supplied in 1:76 scale (OO gauge) and includes split‑spoke wheels with metal bearings, NEM coupler pockets, a high level of detail above and below the floor line and a high‑quality livery application in the post‑1936 Southern Railway brown colour. It is intended for collectors and railway enthusiasts seeking an accurate representation of a 10‑ton, 5‑plank open wagon from the SECR era.
