Manufacturer description

Nearing the end of class 66 orders, production was shifted to Muncie in the USA. This change carried with it some subtle differences that we can see on this model. Named ‘Severn Valley Railway’ in 2016, it can be seen here with the current day ‘europorte’ branding removed.

Our Class 66 model is based on the award winning ‘accura-standard’ platform, with all-wheel powered six-axle bogies, a powerful twin flywheel fitted motor and market leading electronics package.

The Accurascale Class 66 GBRF Blue/Orange 66763 Diesel Locomotive is a model of the Class 66 locomotive, built by Electro-Motive Diesel from 1998 to 2008 and 2014 to 2015. This model is a representation of the rebuilding of the railways, a period during which the Class 66 locomotives were introduced.

This model is based on the Accurascale 'standard' platform, featuring all-wheel powered bogies, a twin flywheel motor, and a market-leading electronics package. The locomotive is DCC ready, with a 21-pin socket, and features a stay-alive power pack.

The model has a minimum radius curve requirement of 438mm, or second radius set-track, and is designed to be highly detailed, with die-cast metal chassis, separate etched metal and plastic detail parts, and scale width wire handrails. The underframe tank detail is fully featured, with brackets and pipework, and the buffers are fully sprung.

This model features a number of deluxe and DCC features, including a powerPack capacitor for uninterrupted power, customised dual-speaker technology with a large 'Accurathrash' style bass speaker and a smaller 'iphone' style cube for higher frequencies on DCC sound-fitted models. The model also features a hall sensor for a flange squeal effect on DCC sound-fitted models.

The lighting pack is fully detailed, with directional lighting, DC and DCC, switchable red and white marker lights with day/night options, and separately switched cab lighting that auto-switches off on movement. The model also features a working tail lamp and a 21-pin DCC socket.
