Manufacturer description

66587 arrived in the United Kingdom on 21 April 2007 and entered traffic with Freightliner in the company’s original green and yellow livery. This model completes the set of Freightliner locomotives in this run by representing a “low-emission” variant. The locomotive remained relatively anonymous in this livery until 10 June 2019, when Freightliner repainted 66587 and unveiled it at Southampton Docks in the striking magenta colour scheme of Ocean Network Express, marking Freightliner’s new partnership with the global container shipping company. It was given a name for the first time: “As One, We Can”. This locomotive has now received the modified driver’s door handle arrangement, with the upper handle plated over.

Accurascale Class 66 Freightliner (ONE) No 66587 is a 4mm scale diesel locomotive model representing the Class 66 type operated by Freightliner during the initial privatisation era. The model is supplied as DCC ready and carries the manufacturer part number ACC3464. It is intended for use with both direct current and digital command control layouts.

The prototype locomotive arrived in the United Kingdom on 21 April 2007 and entered service in Freightliner’s original green and yellow livery. On 10 June 2019 the locomotive was repainted in the magenta Ocean Network Express colour scheme and given the name “As One, We Can”, coinciding with Freightliner’s partnership with the container shipping company.

Accurascale has refined the tooling for this model, adding a newly shaped exhaust silencer, handbrake linkages moulded in the off position and an etched middle handrail bracket on the cab front where applicable. The kit can also represent roof‑mounted Wi‑Fi pods, the modified Freightliner cab‑door handle arrangement and BMAC‑replacement lighting units, and offers additional buffer‑plate combinations for further prototype variations.

Deluxe features include a PowerPack capacitor for uninterrupted power, a customised dual‑speaker system with a large bass speaker and a smaller high‑frequency cube on DCC‑sound fitted units, and a hall sensor that provides a flange squeal effect. The locomotive can be fitted with a 21‑pin MTX socket or an original ESU LokSound 5 decoder. Performance specifications comprise a five‑pole motor with two flywheels, gearing that allows a minimum scale top speed of 75 mph (120 kph), and all‑wheel drive with all‑wheel pickup. Lighting is fully detailed, offering directional illumination, switchable red and white marker lights with day/night settings, and separately switched cab lighting that operates automatically or can be switched off when the locomotive moves.
