Manufacturer description

Arriving in the uk aboard MV Fairload on the 23rd June 2000, this locomotive was originally numbered 66250 and was the last EWS class 66 as part of their “red revolution” which had started with 66001 just a few years earlier. As part of a restructuring, EWS offered several locomotives for sale and 66250 was acquired by GBRF in 2017 and was allocated the new number 66789. Unveiled on the 27th Feb 2018, 66789 sports a homage to the British Rail large logo blue livery to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the formation of British Railways back in 1948.

Accurascale's OO scale model of the Class 66 diesel locomotive, representing British Rail Freight (GBRF) No.66789, is a highly detailed and accurate representation of the real-life locomotive.

The model features a die-cast metal chassis, RP25-110 profile OO wheels, and separately applied etched metal and plastic detail parts, including grab handles, steps, wipers, and more. The underframe features a full tank detail with brackets and pipework, and the model is fitted with fully sprung buffers, factory-fitted pipework, and screw couplings for display purposes.

The model is DCC sound-fitted and features a PowerPack capacitor for uninterrupted power, as well as a customised Dual-Speaker Technology with a large 'Accurathrash' Style Bass Speaker and smaller 'iPhone' style cube for higher frequencies. The model also features a hall sensor for a flange squeal effect.

The locomotive is based on the real-life No.66250, which was originally part of EWS's "Red Revolution" and was renumbered 66789 for GBRF in 2017. The model is accurate to the 70th anniversary of the formation of British Railways in 1948, featuring a homage to the large logo blue livery.

The model is DCC ready with a 21-pin socket, and features high-performance traction with a five-pole motor, two flywheels, and all-wheel drive and pickup. The lighting pack includes directional lighting, DC and DCC, switchable red and white marker lights with day/night options, and separately switched cab lighting.

The model is available in OO scale, with a minimum radius of 438mm (2nd radius set-track) and a scale width of 1:76.2. The model features a lift-off roof panel for easy access to the decoder and DC light switches.
