Manufacturer description

66414 was originally leased to DRS and this is how it arrived fresh from the factory aboard MV fairlift on the 16th October 2006. When that lease expired, DRS did not renew leaving the locomotive available for transfer to Freightliner. Perhaps better known for its spell as “James the Engine” in Stobart livery, it gained the new “powerhaul” version of freightliner livery in 2015 and this is how it remains to this day.

The model, which is 1:76.2 scale, features a die-cast metal chassis and RP25-110 profile OO wheels, allowing for smooth operation on a variety of track radii, including the minimum 438mm required for a second radius set-track.

The model is fitted with separately applied etched metal and plastic detail parts, including grab handles, steps, wipers, and scale width wire handrails. The underframe tank detail is fully featured, with brackets and pipework accurately replicated. The buffers are fully sprung, and the pipework and screw couplings are factory-fitted for a display-ready finish. Dummy knuckle couplers are fitted where relevant, and kinetic NEM coupler mounts and mini-tension-lock couplers are included.

The model is DCC sound ready, with a PowerPack capacitor ensuring uninterrupted power. It features a customised dual-speaker system with a large 'Accurathrash' style bass speaker and a smaller 'iphone' style cube for higher frequencies. A hall sensor is included for a flange squeal effect on DCC sound-fitted models.

The model is DCC ready, with a 21-pin MTX socket or factory-fitted DCC sound options available. The five-pole motor with two flywheels provides high performance traction, with gearing arranged to achieve a minimum scale top speed of 75mph. All wheel drive and all wheel pickup are also included, ensuring smooth operation.

The lighting pack is fully detailed, with directional lighting, DC, and DCC capabilities. The model features switchable red and white marker lights, with day/night options, as well as separately switched cab lighting that automatically turns off when the model is not in motion.
