Manufacturer description

Acquired as part of the mass transfer of Class 37/4s from DB Schenker to Direct Rail Services in 2011, 37422 is unique among the ETS-fitted EEs in having been repainted in the company's dark blue livery but having never received any ownership branding. Reworked for DRS service at Railcare's Glasgow Works with final rectification work undertaken at Barrow Hill, for a long time it looked like its repairs would never be completed. Finally returning to the main line towards the end of 2015, when demand for passenger Class 37s was its peak - with both Cumbrian and Anglia 'short sets' in action - the former D6966/37266 has been a stalwart member of the fleet ever since. Latterly embellished by DRS staff with tiny BR double arrows, cast Victorious nameplates, its pre-rebuild numbers and, most curiously, Stratford depot 'cockney sparrow' motifs, the loco exhibits a different configuration of features compared to former colleague 37405, with bodyside windows still in situ, nose-mounted antenna, top lamp iron and no speedo cable.

Accurascale has released a model of the Class 37/4 locomotive, specifically 37422 'Victorious' in Direct Rail Services (DRS) unbranded livery. The model features DCC sound and is available with a factory-fitted ESU LokSound 5 DCC chip.

The model is a highly detailed representation of the Class 37/4 locomotive, with a heavy die-cast metal chassis and accurate details such as tumbleholme, nose, cab roof and cantrail curves. The model includes a range of features specific to the Class 37/4, including different bogie variations, fuel tank styles and headcode displays.

The model has a number of interchangeable parts, including different bufferbeam styles, nose grilles and bufferbeam skirts. The interior of the cab is also detailed, with options for different styles of windscreen, cab interior and door kickplates.

The model features separately applied etched metal and high-fidelity plastic detail parts, including grab handles, aerials, steps and nameplates. The bogies have separate footsteps, etched footsteps, brake cylinders and speed recorder.

The model is DCC ready and comes with a 21-pin MTX socket, or can be ordered with factory-fitted DCC sound. The sound version features a customised dual-speaker technology with a large EM2 style bass speaker and smaller 'iphone' style cube for higher frequencies. The model also includes a PowerPack/Backup Power Capacitor Bank for up to ten seconds of power-free running, flicker-free lighting and continuous sound.

The model has a high-performance motor with a metal helical gearbox and all-wheel drive and all-wheel pickup. The lighting pack includes directional lighting on DC and DCC, fully functional headlights, engine bay lighting and switchable red tail lights.

The model is available with OO gauge wheels, with provision for re-gauging to P4 and EM gauge. The minimum recommended radius for operation is 438mm, equivalent to a 2nd radius set-track.
