The model is based on the DRS Simplified Compass livery and features a centre headcode nose with plated headcode box and WIPAC light clusters. The model also has a toughened windscreen, revised DRS control desk, and centre cab partition.

The Class 37/4 model features a high level of detail, including etched metal and high-fidelity plastic parts. It has a heavy die-cast metal chassis and accurate tumbleholme, nose, cab roof, and cantrail curves. The model also includes a range of features specific to the Class 37/4, such as fabricated bogies and a boiler water tank converted to a long-range fuel tank.

The model is available in a range of variations, including different nose and bufferbeam styles, windscreen types, and cab interiors. It also features a range of separately applied details, including grab handles, aerials, steps, wipers, nameplates, and crests.

The model is DCC ready and comes with a PowerPack and backup power capacitor bank for uninterrupted power and low-speed running. The DCC sound version features an ESU LokSound V5 DCC chip and customised dual-speaker technology. The model also includes high-performance traction, with a high-quality five-pole motor and metal helical gearbox.

The model features a fully detailed lighting pack, including directional lighting, headlights, engine bay lighting, and WIPAC light clusters. It also has separately switched cab lighting and illuminated details. The model has a minimum radius curve requirement of 438mm (2nd Radius set-track).
