Manufacturer description

Note: Photograph is of an early sample, with an incorrect assembly. Updated photos will be forthcoming in the coming weeks.

The locomotive is finished in early 1960s condition as allocated to 30A Stratford and during its glory days of passenger service on the Great Eastern main line and in charge of such iconic workings as the Liverpool-Harwich boat trains. As an extra special treat and recognising this loco's historic position as the first of the class to be named, we're including etched 'First East Anglian Regiment' nameplates that it carried for several months in mid-1963 before being removed. The plates will not be printed on the locomotive but are provided as optional accessories.

Accurascale D6703 is a 1:76.2 OO‑scale model of British Railways Class 37 locomotive number D6703, representing the engine as it appeared in the early 1960s while allocated to Stratford depot and operating passenger services on the Great Eastern main line. The model carries the original BR green livery with half‑yellow end panels as used in the mid‑1960s.

The chassis is a heavy die‑cast metal construction, and the bodywork reproduces the locomotive’s tumblehome, nose, cab roof and cantrail curves based on 3D laser scans. Details specific to the early period include the split headcode display, frost grille, original windscreens, and the three‑piece bufferbeam with large round Oleo buffers. Optional accessories such as etched metal ‘First East Anglian Regiment’ nameplates are supplied but not fixed to the model.

Electronic components are DCC‑ready, with a 21‑pin MTX socket and an optional ESU LokSound 5 sound module. Each unit includes a PowerPack super‑capacitor bank delivering up to ten seconds of power‑free running, flicker‑free lighting and continuous sound. The locomotive is fitted with a five‑pole motor, metal helical gearbox and all‑wheel drive, allowing a scale top speed of 100 mph (160 km/h). Lighting provisions cover directional head‑lamps, engine‑bay illumination, WIPAC clusters and switchable cab and tail lights.

The model is supplied with RP25‑110 OO‑gauge wheels, which can be re‑gaugeed to EM (18.2 mm) or P4 (18.83 mm) standards. Additional options include high‑fidelity miniature snowploughs, fully sprung metal buffers, and a range of interchangeable nose, roof and bufferbeam variations to suit different periods of the Class 37 fleet.
