Accurascale 97301 is a highly detailed OO‑scale (1:76.2) model of the English Electric Type 3 (Class 37) locomotive, representing the period of initial privatisation. The locomotive is painted in Network Rail yellow with a pristine finish and carries the running number 97301. It is built to the specifications of the original prototype, featuring a Co‑Co wheel arrangement, diesel motive power and a maximum speed of 80 mph (90 mph on later versions). The model is DCC ready with a 21‑pin socket and can be supplied with factory fitted ESU LokSound 5 sound equipment.

The chassis is a heavy die‑cast metal construction, incorporating accurate tumbleholme, nose, cab roof and cantrail curves derived from 3D laser scanning. Details include optional split or single‑piece nose grills, sealed‑beam headlight, toughened windscreens, fabricated bogies, and a range of underframe‑mounted radar kit and roof antenna cut‑outs. Multiple body, nose and roof variations are provided to represent early, mid‑life and late‑era members of the class, with interchangeable buffer‑beam skirts, cab interior fittings and wheel‑slide options.

Lighting is fully functional, covering directional lights, headlights, engine‑bay illumination, WIPAC clusters and switchable cab and tail lights. The model is fitted with a PowerPack backup capacitor bank permitting up to ten seconds of power‑free running, flicker‑free lighting and continuous sound. The high‑performance five‑pole motor, metal helical gearbox and all‑wheel drive enable smooth operation and a scale top speed of 100 mph (160 km/h). RP25‑110 profile OO gauge wheels are supplied, with the option to re‑gauge to EM (18.2 mm) or P4 (18.83 mm) standards. The model is presented in a special numbered certificate and exclusive packaging, and is available only directly from Accurascale.
