Accurascale 97301 is a limited‑edition, numbered model of an English Electric Type 3 locomotive (Class 37) presented in the Initial Privatisation liveries of Network Rail Yellow. The model is supplied in a special presentation box and is available only direct from Accurascale.

The locomotive is produced in OO gauge (1 : 76.2) with a heavy die‑cast metal chassis. Its external geometry – including nose, cab roof, tumbleholme and cantrail curves – has been derived from 3D laser scans and detailed surveys. A range of period‑accurate features are offered, such as three styles of bogies, various fuel‑tank configurations, multiple nose‑grille and buffer designs, and selectable windscreen types.

All units are DCC ready, fitted with a 21‑pin MTX socket and an ESU LokSound V5 sound module. The sound package incorporates a dual‑speaker system with a large bass speaker and a smaller high‑frequency unit, together with a PowerPack capacitor providing up to ten seconds of uninterrupted operation, flicker‑free lighting and continuous sound.

Mechanical performance is provided by a five‑pole motor with two flywheels, a metal helical gearbox and all‑wheel drive. The gearing is set to give a scale top speed of 100 mph (160 km/h). The model includes a comprehensive lighting pack with directional DC/DCC lights, functional headlights, engine‑bay illumination, WIPAC clusters, cab lighting and switchable red tail lights.

The locomotive is fitted with RP25‑110 profile OO wheels, which can be re‑gauged to EM or P4 standards. Additional detail parts such as etched metal grab handles, aerials, nameplates, brass roof‑mounted horns and fully detailed under‑body tankwork are supplied. The model also features fully sprung metal buffers, NEM‑type mini‑tension‑lock couplers and optional buffer‑beam skirts.
