Manufacturer description

Acquired as part of the mass transfer of Class 37/4s from DB Schenker to Direct Rail Services in 2011, 37422 is unique among the ETS-fitted EEs in having been repainted in the company's dark blue livery but having never received any ownership branding. Reworked for DRS service at Railcare's Glasgow Works with final rectification work undertaken at Barrow Hill, for a long time it looked like its repairs would never be completed. Finally returning to the main line towards the end of 2015, when demand for passenger Class 37s was its peak - with both Cumbrian and Anglia 'short sets' in action - the former D6966/37266 has been a stalwart member of the fleet ever since. Latterly embellished by DRS staff with tiny BR double arrows, cast Victorious nameplates, its pre-rebuild numbers and, most curiously, Stratford depot 'cockney sparrow' motifs, the loco exhibits a different configuration of features compared to former colleague 37405, with bodyside windows still in situ, nose-mounted antenna, top lamp iron and no speedo cable

Accurascale has released a model of the Class 37/4 diesel locomotive, 37422 'Victorious', in Direct Rail Services (DRS) livery. The model is DCC ready, with a 21-pin socket, and features interior lighting. It is designed for use on radius 2 curves and has all-wheel power pickup.

The locomotive is based on a highly detailed OO scale model, with a heavy die-cast metal chassis. The model features accurate tumbleholme, nose, cab roof, and cantrail curves, as well as timeframe-specific details such as bogies, fuel tanks, and headcode displays. The model also includes a range of interchangeable parts to allow it to be customised to represent different members of the Class 37 fleet.

The model is available with or without various features, including bufferbeam skirts, cab roof vents and bodyside windows, and nose and roof aerials. It also includes separately applied etched metal and high-fidelity plastic detail parts, such as grab handles, aerials, steps, wipers, nameplates, and crests.

The locomotive is powered by a high-performance five-pole motor with two flywheels and a metal helical gearbox, allowing it to achieve a scale top speed of 100mph. The model is DCC ready and includes a PowerPack backup power capacitor bank for uninterrupted power and low speed running. The lighting pack includes directional lighting, fully functional headlights, engine bay lighting, and separately switched cab lighting.

The model is designed to be highly detailed and accurate, with numerous features such as etched metal door kickplates, frost grille, and super-fine etched metal roof grille. It also includes turned brass roof-mounted horns and accurate high-fidelity miniature snowploughs. The bogies feature separate footsteps, etched footsteps, brake cylinders, speed recorder, end brake rigging, and brake chain.

The model is available with or without DCC sound, with an ESU LokSound V5 DCC chip and customised dual-speaker technology included in the sound version. The model is also available with or without the sound effect of rail noise.
