Manufacturer description

Note: Photograph is of an early sample, with an incorrect assembly. Updated photos will be forthcoming in the coming weeks.

The locomotive is finished in early 1960s condition as allocated to 30A Stratford and during its glory days of passenger service on the Great Eastern main line and in charge of such iconic workings as the Liverpool-Harwich boat trains. As an extra special treat and recognising this loco's historic position as the first of the class to be named, we're including etched 'First East Anglian Regiment' nameplates that it carried for several months in mid-1963 before being removed. The plates will not be printed on the locomotive but are provided as optional accessories.

Accurascale D6703 is a 1:76.2 (OO gauge) model of an English Electric Type 3 (Class 37) locomotive, supplied fitted with DCC sound via an ESU LokSound 5 chip and a 21‑pin MTX socket. The model represents the late‑crest British Railways period and carries the manufacturer part number ACC2301‑D6703DCC.

The locomotive is finished in the early‑1960s BR green livery with half‑yellow ends as allocated to Stratford depot (30A). It includes optional etched “First East Anglian Regiment” nameplates, which were carried briefly in mid‑1963, and a split‑headcode display with four‑character illumination.

Key details are reproduced from 3D laser scans and surveys: a heavy die‑cast metal chassis, fabricated bogies, an underslung fuel tank, original windscreens, a double‑riveted roof with a large cab vent, and a buffer‑beam cowling with large round Oleo buffers. Multiple variations of nose grilles, buffer styles, windscreen types and cab interiors are supplied to represent the range of Class 37 locomotives.

The DCC version provides a PowerPack super‑capacitor for up to ten seconds of power‑free running, flicker‑free lighting and continuous sound. It is equipped with a high‑quality five‑pole motor, metal helical gearbox and all‑wheel drive, allowing a scale top speed of 100 mph (160 km/h). Lighting includes directional headlamps, engine‑bay illumination, WIPAC clusters with day/night settings and switchable red tail lights.

RP25‑110 profile OO wheels are fitted, with optional fine‑scale drop‑in wheels for EM (18.2 mm) and P4 (18.83 mm) gauges, and the model is compatible with minimum radius 438 mm (second radius set‑track). Additional accessories such as miniature snowploughs, etched metal details and a fully detailed bufferbeam are available.
