Dapol's OO scale 2-6-2 tank locomotive model represents the Great Western Railway's 5101 'Large Prairie' class, specifically the number 5109 in green lettered Great Western livery.

Built between 1929 and 1949, the 5101 class was an updated version of the 3100 class, designed for London suburban services with a higher boiler pressure. A total of 140 locomotives were produced, with the final twenty not receiving the standard Great Western livery.

The model features a diecast chassis with a five-pole motor driving the rear wheel, and compensation is provided by sprung centre driving wheels and a sprung front pony truck. The model is DCC ready with electrical pick-up on all driving and tender wheels, and a slide-in PCB allows for easy installation of a NEXT-18 DCC decoder.

The model is designed for use on second radius curves (438mm) and measures 164mm in length, 34mm in width, and 48mm in height. It is available in a pristine finish and has a range of features including a tall safety valve cover, smoke box number plate for the British Railways period, and a bunker lamp bracket shield.
