The Rapido Class 25 ‘Ironclad’ 0‑6‑0 No 52044 is an OO gauge model of the Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway locomotive as preserved. It is fitted with DCC sound, carries the manufacturer part number 817512 and represents the British Railways early crest era.

The model is designed for operation on 2nd‑radius curves of 438 mm or greater and includes an LMS‑style smokebox door, a three‑piece boiler handrail, Ross pop safety valves and a core‑less motor with flywheel. A 21‑pin decoder socket is mounted in the tender together with a large tender‑mounted speaker. Additional features are MoPower stay‑alive, plunger locomotive pickups, tender‑wheel bearing pickups, dynamic firebox flicker and NEM pockets at both front and rear.

Historically, the real Class 25 locomotives were built between 1876 and 1887, a total of 280 examples, and were nicknamed ‘Ironclad’ for their robust design. No 52044, later known as the ‘Green Dragon’, was withdrawn from British Railways service in 1959, rescued in 1960 and has been housed on the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway ever since, appearing in several films and television programmes.

The Rapido rendition will be offered in a range of liveries, including two that reflect different periods of the locomotive’s preservation history.
