Rapido Trains UK OO gauge model of Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway Class 25 ‘Ironclad’ 0‑6‑0 No. 959, painted in the post‑1913 passenger livery. The model bears the manufacturer part number 817004 and represents the pre‑grouping era of the railway.

The locomotive is suitable for operation on second‑radius curves of 438 mm or greater. It features an L&Y‑style smokebox door, a single boiler handrail, Ramsbottom safety valves, a coreless motor with flywheel, a 21‑pin decoder socket and speaker mounted on the tender, MoPower stay‑alive fitted, plunger and tender‑wheel‑bearing pickups, dynamic firebox flicker and NEM pockets at both front and rear.

The real Class 25 engines were introduced from the summer of 1876, following an order placed by William Barton Wright, Locomotive Superintendent of the Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway. A total of 280 locomotives were built by five manufacturers, including Kitson & Co., Sharp, Stewart & Co., Vulcan and Beyer Peacock, with the final example delivered in 1887. Although designed for freight, they proved effective in mixed traffic and acquired the nickname ‘Ironclad’. The class survived under LMS (power classification 2F) until the last member, No. 957, was withdrawn in 1959; the preserved engine later appeared in the 1970 film The Railway Children.

Rapido Trains UK will offer the model in a range of liveries, including at least two representing different periods of the locomotive’s preservation history. The model incorporates modern digital features while retaining the external appearance of the historic steam engine.
