Rapido Class 25 ‘Ironclad’ 0-6-0 No.52044 is an OO gauge model of the Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway steam locomotive, representing the British Railways Early Crest period. Manufacturer part number is 817012.

The model is suitable for operation on second‑radius curves of 438 mm or greater and incorporates an LMS‑style smokebox door, three‑piece boiler handrail, Ross pop safety valves, a core‑less motor with flywheel, a 21‑pin decoder socket in the tender, a large tender‑mounted speaker, MoPower stay‑alive, plunger locomotive and tender wheel‑bearing pickups, dynamic firebox flicker and NEM pockets at both front and rear.

The real Class 25 locomotives were introduced from 1876 after William Barton Wright became Locomotive Superintendent of the L&Y. A total of 280 were built by Kitson, Sharp, Stewart, Vulcan, Beyer Peacock and by the L&Y works at Miles Platting. Designed for freight but also used on mixed traffic, they acquired the nickname “Ironclad”. They passed to the LMS as power class 2F, then to British Railways; the last member of the class, No.52044 (L&Y No.957), was withdrawn on 31 March 1959. It was rescued in 1960 by Tony Cox, moved to the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway in 1965 and became widely known as the “Green Dragon” after appearing in the 1970 film The Railway Children and several BBC productions.

Rapido Trains UK supplies this model in a variety of liveries, including two representing different phases of the locomotive’s preservation history.
