The Rapido Class 25 ‘Ironclad’ 0‑6‑0 No.52056 is a OO gauge model of a Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway steam locomotive, supplied by Rapido Trains UK under part number 817008. It represents the early British Railways crest period and is offered in several historically accurate liveries, including the Lancashire & Yorkshire and LMS schemes.

The model can negotiate a minimum radius of 438 mm and features a L&Y‑style smokebox door, a single boiler handrail and Ramsbottom safety valves. It is powered by a core‑less motor with a flywheel, includes a 21‑pin decoder socket in the tender, a large tender‑mounted speaker, MoPower stay‑alive circuitry, plunger locomotive pickups, tender wheel‑bearing pickups, a dynamic firebox flicker and NEM pockets at both front and rear. The tender is fitted with a speaker and the locomotive employs plunger pickups for realistic sound.

Historically, the real Class 25 locomotives were introduced from 1876 by William Barton Wright of the Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway, with a total of 280 built by various contractors, most notably Kitson & Co., Sharp, Stewart & Co., Vulcan and Beyer Peacock. Designed as freight engines, they acquired the nickname ‘Ironclad’ for their robustness and were later re‑classified as LMS 2F. The last of the class, No 52044 (L&Y 957), was withdrawn in 1959 and preserved on the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway, famously appearing in the 1970 film *The Railway Children*. The Rapido model reflects both the original service and later preservation liveries.
