Rapido Trains UK OO gauge model of the Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway Class 25 ‘Ironclad’ 0‑6‑0 No.964, supplied as part number 817002. The model represents a pre‑grouping locomotive built after 1890 and is liveried in black to match the original L&Y appearance.

The locomotive is equipped for operation on 2nd‑radius curves of 438 mm or larger and includes a L&Y‑style smokebox door, a single boiler handrail, Ramsbottom safety valves and a core‑less motor with flywheel. The tender carries a 21‑pin decoder socket, a large mounted speaker, MoPower stay‑alive, plunger loco pickups, tender wheel‑bearing pickups, dynamic firebox flicker and NEM pockets at both front and rear.

The real Class 25s were introduced in 1876 after William Barton Wright became Locomotive Superintendent of the Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway. A total of 280 engines were built by Kitson & Co., Sharp, Stewart & Co., Vulcan and Beyer Peacock between 1876 and 1887. Although designed for freight, they proved capable of mixed‑traffic duties and earned the nickname ‘Ironclad’. The class served for 72 years, with the last example withdrawn in 1959, but one locomotive (L&Y No.957) survives on the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway and is better known as the ‘Green Dragon’. The Rapido model will be offered in several liveries covering both its working and preservation periods.
