Rapido Class 25 ‘Ironclad’ 0-6-0 No. 52053 is an OO‑scale model locomotive produced for British Railways (Early Crest) livery. The model incorporates DCC sound, a 21‑pin decoder socket in the tender, a large tender‑mounted speaker and a core‑less motor with flywheel. It features a L&Y‑style smokebox door, a single boiler handrail, Ramsbottom safety valves, plunger locomotive pickups, tender‑wheel bearing pickups and dynamic firebox flicker, and includes NEM pockets at both front and rear. The tender is fitted with a MoPower stay‑alive unit to maintain decoder power when the locomotive is uncoupled.

The model is suitable for operation on second‑radius curves of 438 mm or greater and includes a stay‑alive fitted to the tender. It is supplied with the manufacturer part number 817509.

Historically, the real Class 25 locomotives were built between 1876 and 1887 for the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway. A total of 280 0‑6‑0 tender engines were produced by five manufacturers, including Kitson & Co., Sharp, Stewart & Co., Vulcan and Beyer Peacock. Originally designed for freight work, they proved capable of mixed‑traffic duties and acquired the nickname ‘Ironclad’. By the 1930s most had been withdrawn, with the final member, No. 52044, retired in 1959. One example, No. 957, survived in preservation and appeared in the film *The Railway Children*.

Rapido Trains UK will offer the Class 25 ‘Ironclad’ model in a range of liveries covering both its original service period and its later preservation appearances.
