Manufacturer description

92033 Railway Heritage Trust Caledonian Sleeper
With a very similar career to No. 92028, No. 92033 was one of nine SNCF-owned Class 92s and carried the name Berlioz after the French composer. Taken into stock in June 1995 its early career saw it plying its trade between Dollands Moor and locations such as Wembley and Daventry. Under EWS the fleet gradually spread their wings and the early 2000s even saw them working West Coast Main Line MGR coal workings and long-hauled Enterprise trains like the Mossend-Eastleigh ‘Enterprise’ wagonload services. Stored at Crewe IEMD in April 2006, No. 92033 was moved with several colleagues to Europorte 2’s depot in Coquelles, France in July 2011 after being acquired from SNCF, bringing all 16 of the non-Railfreight Distribution Class 92s under the same owner. Returned to the UK in the early 2014, it was moved to Brush Traction, Loughborough, for repairs and reliability modifications, which were completed in February 2015, the upgrade costing around £2 million. Initially released into traffic in plain teal for testing with No. 92018, the Caledonian Sleeper logos were applied at the start of April and this pair along with unrefurbished but repainted No. 92038 handled the early days of the new Serco sleeper contract along with hired in Nos. 86101, 86401 and 87002. No. 92033 returned to Brush between February and June 2018 for Dellner fitment and upgrades for working with the delayed CAF Mk.5 coaches, which in the end did not enter service for another 16 months. More recently, in May 2022, the Class 92 was dedicated Railway Heritage Trust at and event at London Euston, although sadly the nameplates were only vinyl embellishments.

Accurascale has released a OO scale model of the Class 92 locomotive, specifically the number 92033, which is named 'Railway Heritage Trust'. The model is a highly detailed representation of the real locomotive, which has a history of operating in the UK and Europe.

The model features a die-cast alloy metal chassis and is available with either a factory-fitted DCC silent motor or a factory-fitted DCC sound motor. The level of detail is high, with separately applied etched metal and high-fidelity plastic parts, including grab handles, steps, wipers, nameplates, crests, and more.

The locomotive is designed for high-performance operation, with a high-end five-pole motor, two flywheels, and a helical gearbox for maximum performance and slow-speed running. The gear ratio is arranged for accurate top speed, and the locomotive features all-wheel drive and all-wheel pickup.

The model also includes a fully detailed lighting pack, with directional lighting, lighting clusters with day and night-time modes, red and white marker lights, and separately switched cab lighting and illuminated details. The locomotive is also equipped with a hi-fi speaker system and large sound capsules for improved sound quality on sound-fitted models.

Other features of the model include correct height mini-tension-lock couplers with a NEM socket, a fully detailed bufferbeam, and fully sprung metal buffers. The minimum radius for operation is 438mm, suitable for use on second radius track.
