Accurascale has announced a new OO scale model of the Class 92 electric locomotive, specifically the DB Schenker Red version, with running number 92042. This model is DCC ready, featuring a 21-pin socket.

The locomotive is a highly detailed representation of the real-life Class 92, built by Asea Brown Boveri and Brush Traction between 1993 and 1996. A total of 46 units were produced, with this model being one of them. The Class 92 is a high-speed electric locomotive capable of reaching speeds of up to 145 km/h (90 mph).

The model features a heavy die-cast alloy metal chassis for improved tractive effort, and comes with a 5-pole motor and twin flywheel for high performance. The gearing is arranged for accurate top speed, and the locomotive is equipped with a metal helical gearbox for maximum performance and slow-speed running. The model is also DCC ready, with a powerpack capacitor for uninterrupted power supply.

The Accurascale model includes a range of separately applied etched metal and plastic detail parts, including grab handles, steps, wipers, nameplates, crests, and more. The locomotive features correct height mini-tension-lock couplers with a NEM socket, as well as a fully detailed bufferbeam.

The lighting pack includes directional lighting, DC and DCC, with lighting clusters that can be switched between day and night-time modes. The model also features red and white marker lights, separately switched cab lighting, and illuminated details on the driver's console, which automatically switches off when the locomotive is in motion.

The wheels are RP25-110 OO wheels, which can be re-gauged to P4 (18.83mm) or EM (18mm) gauge. The model is fully sprung, with metal buffers and extra fine factory-fitted pipework. The minimum radius for the model is 438mm, which is suitable for second radius track.

The Accurascale Class 92 is expected to be released in Q3 2022.
