Rapido Trains UK offer a 1:76 scale (OO gauge) model of the LNER C12 4‑4‑2 tank locomotive, number 4009A, in a plain black livery. The model is supplied with DCC sound capability, a factory fitted speaker, an ESU E24 DCC decoder socket and MoPower stay‑alive capacitors. It carries the manufacturer part number 989507 and represents a locomotive from the “Big Four” era of the LNER, LMS, GWR and SR.

The locomotive features a tall chimney and dome, Ross Pop safety valves, square tank edges, parallel and sprung buffers, a handrail on the smokebox door, and highly detailed external components such as varied chimneys, domes, safety valves and bunker shapes. It is fitted with NEM 363 coupler pockets at the front and NEM 362 at the rear, a die‑cast running board, a smooth and powerful mechanism, dynamic firebox flicker with fire‑draw effect and is suitable for operation on second‑radius curves of 438 mm or greater. The finish is museum‑quality paint and the model includes variant parts to represent a range of pre‑grouping, grouping and nationalisation liveries.

Historically the class originated as the GNR C2 tank engines built between 1898 and 1907, later reclassified as C12 under LNER ownership in 1923. After redistribution across the LNER network, 49 examples survived into British Railways after nationalisation on 01/01/1948; the last, No 67397, was withdrawn in 1958 and none were preserved. Rapido’s rendition provides a detailed replica of this historically significant locomotive for model railway enthusiasts.
