Rapido LNER C12 Tank No.1517N is a 1:76 scale (OO gauge) model of the former London and North Eastern Railway 4‑4‑2 tank locomotive, supplied under part number 989004.

The prototype was originally built for the Great Northern Railway as the C2 class, first appearing from Doncaster works in 1898. Between 1898 and 1907 a total of sixty examples were produced, the final fifty being fitted with condensing apparatus for operation on the Metropolitan Widened Lines. After the 1923 Grouping the locomotives were re‑classified as LNER C12s and were redistributed across the LNER network, remaining in service until the late 1950s. No examples were preserved.

The model features a museum‑quality paint finish, short chimney and dome, as‑built safety valves, round tank edges, tapered buffers and sprung buffers. It is fitted with NEM 363 coupler pockets at the front and NEM 362 at the rear, an ESU E24 DCC decoder socket, MoPower stay‑alive capacitors, factory‑installed speakers and a dynamic firebox flicker effect. The running board is die‑cast and the mechanism is described as smooth and powerful, suitable for operation on second‑radius curves of 438 mm or greater.

Rapido offers the locomotive in a range of liveries covering pre‑grouping, grouping and nationalisation eras, with variations in chimney, dome, safety valve, bunker shape, tank corners, condensing pipes and coal rail designs. Models representing condensing variants include brass destination plates for placement on the smokebox door.
