Rapido Trains UK produce a 1:76 OO gauge model of the LNER C12 4‑4‑2 tank locomotive, numbered 4502 and finished in LNER lined black. The model carries the manufacturer part number 989006 and represents the locomotive as it appeared during the period of the Big Four railway companies.

The model is equipped with a short chimney, dome, Ross Pop safety valves, round‑edged tank, parallel buffers, plain smokebox door and a choice of variant parts such as different chimney and dome styles, safety valve arrangements and tank corner shapes. It runs on 2nd radius curves of 438 mm or greater, includes a dynamic firebox flicker, an ESU E24 DCC decoder socket, MoPower stay‑alive capacitors, factory fitted speakers, sprung buffers, NEM 363 coupler pockets at the front and NEM 362 at the rear, and a museum‑quality paint finish.

The prototype was designed by Henry Ivatt for the Great Northern Railway and introduced in 1898 as the C2 class 4‑4‑2 tank. A total of 60 were built by 1907, with the final fifty fitted with condensing apparatus for operation on the Metropolitan Widened Lines. After the 1923 Grouping the class became the LNER C12, seeing service across the former GNR network and later on the LNER’s extended system until the last engine was withdrawn in 1958. No original examples were preserved.

Rapido offers the model in a range of liveries covering pre‑grouping, grouping and nationalisation eras, each supplied with a detailing bag that may contain brass destination plates for condensing variants. The model is intended for smooth, reliable operation on OO gauge layouts.
