Rapido GNR C2 Tank No.1511 is a 1:76 scale (OO gauge) model of the Great Northern Railway 4‑4‑2 tank locomotive. It is supplied with the manufacturer part number 989503 and is fitted with DCC sound, an ESU E24 DCC decoder socket, MoPower stay‑alive capacitors and factory‑installed speakers.

The prototype was introduced by the GNR in 1898 as a C2 class Atlantic tank designed by Henry Ivatt for local passenger services in the West Riding of Yorkshire. A total of sixty examples were built between 1898 and 1907; the final fifty were equipped with condensing apparatus for operation on the Metropolitan Widened Lines in London. After the 1923 grouping the locomotives were re‑classified as LNER C12 and were redistributed across the Eastern Region network. The last member of the class was withdrawn at the end of 1958, and none were preserved.

The model reproduces a range of historically accurate details, including a short chimney, dome, as‑built safety valves, round tank edges, tapered buffers, destination plate hangers on the smokebox door and condensing pipes where appropriate. Paintwork is applied in a museum‑quality finish, and the running board is die‑cast. The locomotive is compatible with 2nd radius curves of 438 mm or greater and features sprung buffers and NEM coupler pockets (363 at the front, 362 at the rear).

Operational features include a smooth and powerful mechanism, dynamic firebox flicker with a fire‑draw effect, and a sound system that reproduces realistic steam noises. The model is supplied with a selection of variant parts, so individual examples may differ in chimney style, dome shape, safety‑valve arrangement, tank corner profile, condensing equipment and coal‑rail design. It is suitable for use on DCC‑controlled layouts and offers a highly detailed representation of the historic GNR C2/LNER C12 tank locomotive.
