Rapido Trains UK produce a 1:76 scale (OO gauge) model of the LNER C12 4‑4‑2 tank locomotive, number 4010, in the wartime black livery. The model carries the manufacturer part number 989008 and represents the period of the Big Four railway companies – LNER, LMS, GWR and SR.

The locomotive is supplied with a tall chimney, dome, square‑edged tank, parallel buffers and a plain smokebox door. It includes a range of optional detail parts such as different chimney and dome designs, safety‑valve types, bunker shapes, tank corner profiles, condensing pipes and coal‑rail styles, meaning that no two examples are identical. The model features a dynamic firebox flicker, a factory‑fitted speaker, an ESU E24 DCC decoder socket, MoPower stay‑alive capacitors and sprung buffers. NEM 363 coupler pockets are fitted to the front and NEM 362 to the rear.

Historically, the original C12 class was introduced by the Great Northern Railway in 1898 as a 4‑4‑2 tank engine for local passenger services in the West Riding of Yorkshire. A total of 60 were built for the GNR, later re‑classified as C12 under LNER ownership in 1923 and dispersed across the Eastern region network. The class survived into British Railways ownership after nationalisation in 1948, with the last example withdrawn in 1958; none were preserved.

The Rapido model is designed for operation on second‑radius curves of 438 mm or greater and is finished in a museum‑quality paintwork. It is marketed as a highly detailed, smooth‑running replica suitable for collectors and model railway enthusiasts.
